Wayne County Community College District has completed many years of success uninterrupted operation and development of comprehensive educational services. The students and million of people living within the College's service district have enjoyed the benefits of constantly improved instructional programs and community services. The College was invented in 1967 by the Legislature of the State of Michigan, and its initial seven-member Board of Trustees was elected in that year: The first operating budget was based on a $1,000,000 grant from the State of Michigan, as well as a $300,000 stipend from New Detroit. The College's campuses are located in industrial, rural and metropolitan areas where a major share of Michigan's technical and skilled occupations is located. Being diverse in many of its service areas, WCCCD places a strong role in building an occupational and career programs, and traditional college and university transfer programs, including those within the liberal arts. There are students’ resources programs for students such as Adult Education Program Scholarship The WCCCD Scholarship Committee is resource for development of arm of the Wayne County Community College District and funds the annual merit scholarship and textbook assistance program. The Committee resources support competitive educational services, curricula and programs for the students and communities served by the District. It is supported by numerous local organizations, individuals and corporations and several charitable gifts have been providing for numerous needs of students. It helps the District continue to deliver the promise of building better lives by appreciating every gift. |
