Wayne County Reads

A group of energetic and practical women determined the sparkplug for the Garden City Public Library. After a proposition was accepted to establish a public library defeating at the polls in 1949, these women decided to organize a library and prove to the community what an asset it could in terms of education. During the summer  beginning of 1951 to prepare themselves to operate a library Foundation, they formed the Garden City Library Committee, and took an adult education course in librarianship. Merchants and community organizations donated many materials, furnishings, and many hours of labor to refurbish the Garden City Public Library in Wayne County.

The Friends of the Library are accepting books, videos, cd's, dvd's and cassettes in good used condition for their Slightly used Book Sale. The materials offer at the library during open hours. have heavy boxes. A partial state income tax credit is allowed when donating to a public library. There are different kids programs conducted in the library during every year introducing Story time, Summer Reading Club, Afternoon Tales and Ad-To-Me Events. Education and career books and magazines have content regarding Career Explorer, College bound, Michigan Beauty Schools and Michigan College Search Department of Education Michigan Internship Opportunities with Occupational Information System (MOIS), National Center for Education Statistics. They have an entire section dedicated to young kids which frequented the library for older kids’ books. There is a special section for the entertainment for the people which involves books on subjects like Entertainment Celebhoo(information regarding famous celebrities and their lifestyle) Tonight Online, Gossip Central and so on. Other referring subjects include Garden and Cooking, Local News, Weather, Sports, History, Health and Medicine.
