Leanna Hicks Library of InksterThe City of Inkster was named after Robert Inkster, a born native of the Shetland Islands near coast of Norway. The name’Inkster’is  come from a Norse name, ‘Ingasetter’, which is a name of person’s with the terms for summer pasture. The Leanna Hicks Public Library was given on September 24, 1960 by New York Governor Nelson Rockefeller (future 41st Vice-President of the United States) The library serves citizens in their informational, cultural, educational and recreational pursuits. Library cards are used for Inkster residents and non residents may obtain it if they work or attend school in Inkster. Library services dwells with on-line library catalog, interlibrary loan, and internet access.The library also offers adult and children’s programming.
Leanna Hicks Public Library Collection includes

Carries books from the ‘New York Times’ and ‘Essence’ bestseller list. The Children's section of the library offers a fun place for kids to hang out and find out fiction and non-fiction books to read. Children who are ages 4 and above are invited to join for stories, songs and a craft work every evening. They now offer a Pre-Teen and Young Teen Book Club for ages 10 to14.Online facilities includes browsing Mel databases having contents on full-text articles from magazines, journals and newspapers as well as digital books.Michigan Works was established in 1987 to provide high-quality employment and training programs serving employers and people who were visiting the library.
