The name Plymouth was suggested and addressed by William Bartow, the first Township Supervisor, since many of the original settlers had ancestors who lived near Plymouth Rock in Massachusetts. The origin of Plymouth District library, opened in 1923, consisted of just two wall sections of shelves with books.
