On June 17, 1923, a Detroit Times article reported ‘Thousands watched the lying of the cornerstone of the new Sacred Heart Seminary. “With a beginning of first degree class, starting in year 1926, Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit serves one of the largest Archdioceses in the U.S., with a Catholic population of 1.46 million Catholics. Over 400 students and 93 seminarians (2006-2007) are enrolled in classes through the seminary. They are drawn from the cultural mosaic of the U.S, global community. There are women and men, clergy and lay, resident seminarians and commuters, young, middle-aged and senior students. Some are full-time courses, and many are part-time.
